About the Institute

The Institute for Pharmacy is an independent, ad-free repository of clinical tools and continuing professional development (CPD) frameworks, built specifically for pharmacists and prescribers operating in acute and primary care.

Our Principles

1. Precision over Marketing

The modern internet is flooded with AI-generated SEO content and pharmaceutical marketing material masquerading as clinical guidance. We reject this. Our content is written by practicing clinicians, for clinicians. We use concrete data, exact formulas, and plain English. There is no fluff, no "seamless unlocking of potential", and no hidden subscription fees.

2. Privacy by Design

Patient data sovereignty is non-negotiable. None of our clinical calculators transmit data to a server. Every calculation is performed locally via JavaScript running within your own browser. Once you close the tab, the data is gone forever. We do not use cookies to track your calculations.

3. Evidence-Based

Our algorithms are derived directly from primary literature and national guidelines (e.g., NICE, BNF, UK Renal Drug Database, FPM). Where variations in practice exist (e.g., Gentamicin dosing intervals), we default to the most conservative, widely accepted standard while explicitly noting the variation so you can align with your local Trust policy.

Who We Serve

We built these tools to solve our own daily workflow bottlenecks. We serve:

  • Hospital Pharmacists conducting ward rounds requiring rapid, reliable kinetic calculations without navigating clunky intranet systems.
  • Primary Care Network (PCN) Pharmacists structuring clinical audits to meet QOF targets and antimicrobial stewardship goals.
  • Independent Prescribers (IPs) building their competency portfolios for regulatory submission.
  • Community Pharmacists performing complex dose conversions (e.g., opioids) requiring secondary verification.
